Sustainability
We take every opportunity to promote sustainable gardening by highlighting natural chemical-free alternatives, reduced and peat-free compost, recycled and biodegradable pots and focus on encouraging wildlife to the garden.

Doing our bit
Wherever possible we are reducing our usage of plastic, moving to recyclable. compostable or biodegradable pots, reduced packaging on products we buy in, paper or biodegradable bags at the tills.
We are also encouraging our customers to reduce their impact on the environment by offering reduced and peat-free compost, natural chemical free weed killers and pesticides.
As a company we are growing in recyclable pots and where possible buying in plants delivered in pots and trays, such as hairy pots, which can biodegrade or be recycled.

How We Care for the Environment
We attempt to use as many local UK suppliers as possible to reduce our overall impact on the environment. We harvest rainwater to water our plants and manage our irrigation system tightly to limit water usage. We stock a vast variety of wildlife friendly plants, hedging and plants for birds, bees and butterflies, to encourage wildlife in to everyone’s garden.
“Hairy Pots, supplied by Kirton Farm, are a great example of initiatives and where plastic can be replaced with natural material, ready to plant!”
We are constantly looking at ways in which we can reduce are wastage and carbon footprint, and as a business we are striving to work with the horticultural industry to find alternatives to plastic.
